something wicked this way goes

Jeb was interviewed by Erin Wolf over at Fan-Belt regarding the last Dear Astronaut show. You can read it here.

a cascadible sun, audible light

After five years and hot on the heels of their first full-length album, ESCAPE FROM RAINBOW MOUNTAIN, Milwaukee’s weirdo sludge-rockers DEAR ASTRONAUT have decided to call it quits. It’s too bad, really, but there’s not much else to say. What, are you going to try to talk ‘em out of it? I’d like to see that.

Kicking off the funeral celebrations August 6th at the Cactus Club, with good friends TRUTHDEALER, who you all know and love as another one of those fucking weirdo vaguely metal/listened to too many Melvins records bands, KING’S HORSES, a poppy noise rock act who likes to play loud and NAKED GHOSTS, the first live venture for Kevin DeMars’ (Disguised as Birds, Mother Orchis) new solo (and previously recording-only) project. It’s going to be a rip-roaring, rollicking, son-of-a-gun motherfucker of a time, and now that all Wisconsin bars are smoke-free, the Cactus Club will no longer leave you reeking like an over-flowing piss-water-soaked ashtray.

As an added bonus, DEAR ASTRONAUT has made a second run of their tape, which had originally sold out in just over a week. This will likely be your LAST CHANCE EVER to score one of these babies, unless you are familiar with the internet, which you probably are, since you’re reading this.

pouring out

It is with great remorse that we announce that Dear Astronaut has decided to disband. This move is entirely amicable, and most of the reasons behind this decision are far too mundane to detail here. Know that the five years we spent has Dear Astronaut, though not without struggle, have been amazing, and we are all grateful for the experience. Further, we thank you all for supporting us by coming out to shows, buying our records and t-shirts, writing about us, booking shows for us, putting us up for the night, taking us aside to say sweet things. This has been a life-changing experience for all of us, and without you all, it wouldn’t have meant a damn thing.

We are currently in the process of booking our last show, so stay tuned for that. It will be a celebration with plenty of friends and we invite you all. Our records are still available here, and a second and final run of the cassette will be available at the show.

You can continue to find us in Cartilage Party, Bzy Bodies, The Spur & the Long Lost and BL Tease. Also expect a new project from Jeb sometime this Fall.
